Her Own Vocabulary 4-29-07

One of the things I really love about spending time with Garnet is that she makes up her own words and they really fit the situation. Some of her recent words are: Swicker-to flick water from ones fingers as in "Don't swicker me, Mama!" Cluckering-to clamor for for something unintelligibly as in "Ysa was cluckering for my Littlest Pet, but I didn't give it to her." I also really like her version of the contraction for will not--"willn't." It makes more sense than won't and it makes her sound vaguely European.

Another funny incident: I was talking on the phone to my friend, Amy, and was complaining/making fun of the nutrisystem TV commercial where the women are saying things like, "My husband, he said I was hot," and "I haven't had this smoking hot body since I was in college." Now, I wasn't making fun of overweight people, but of how unintelligent the people in the commercial sounded. But, Garnet took me to task anyway saying that I should not make fun of those ladies, because, "It's good they got out of their fat, Mama, you should make fun of your own self when you used to be fat." I laughed and told her I was not making fun of the ladies losing weight, I just didn't like what they were saying. Later on that week, the same commercial came on while Steven and I were out and she was being baby-sat. She told the sitter that the sitter needed nutrisystem. Then we had to have a little talk about not telling someone that they were overweight, and that it was okay to be overweight if the person was happy with themselves, etc. But she has already picked up on my body issues and of course, society's body issues. Seems like 4 is just too young for that.

Clovis has different names for all her shoes, and they only make sense to us. She has her "browns", they're brown, her "zips", they are sneakers with zippers. "Chippy chips" apply to any small cruncy snack food. "Lookie-Loo!" means look at this!
I think i have actual relatives that constantly say "willn't". I dig it!
I'm surprised that Garnet didn't ask how your body can be "smoking", and doesn't that hurt?

Willn't makes more sense, I think it is a orthographic tendency that caused us to change it to won't. Won't is just easier to say.
Anyway, this is the best picture of Goo I have ever seen!
